  TRIBUTES TO ANDY FIGGE

A number of letters have been received concerning the tragic
death of Andy Figge, a well respected tower rigger and Registered
Professional Civil Engineer. Andy served many clients in our
area, and his loss was deeply felt. The tributes are on display
at:

WINDMILLING - THE ANATOMY OF A TOWER CATASTROPHE

The following article describes the step-by-step events
that led to the tower collapse which claimed the life of Andy
Figge. The write up was prepared at the request of Southern
California broadcast engineers who had close ties with Andy and
wanted to understand the events that cost him his life.
Hopefully, this understanding will help others avoid
similar tragedies:

TWO ENGINEERING OPENINGS AT PREMIERE RADIO NETWORKS

Barry Victor will soon be leaving Premiere Radio Networks
to work with his own firm, The Victor Group, full time. He
advises us that there are now two jobs open at Premiere's Sherman
Oaks facility where major syndicated shows are produced. A
complete description of the positions is available at:

  NEW JOB SHOPPE POLICY

Please help us by limiting your Job Shoppe announcement to nine
lines, excluding title & signature. It's the same policy that we
are already using with Letters to the Editor, and it works well.

Do you have an elaborate posting that everyone absolutely must
see? No problem. Include an e-mail address with your nine line
summary telling where folks can write for details. Or post the
complete text on the web, and send us a synopsis with the URL.

  Thanks for helping.

PERFECT PAUL ARRIVES IN SAN DIEGO

Check out 162.400 MHz in San Diego. Today they started
using a new "computer voice" doing the entire weather status/
forecast. To me, it sounds like the output of a Macintosh.....

  HI FROM FLORIDA

I am temporarily working out of Lodestar's Tequesta, Florida
office in North Palm Beach County. Your newsletter really is a
lifeline to the Southern CA broadcast market and beyond.

The Mount Wilson Observatory Virtual Tour link was a great way
for me to show Lodestar's Florida (flatlander) employees what kind
of terrain surrounds our Mount Harvard facility.

Keep up the great and very informative work!! It's appreciated!

  * These items are confusing and appear to cancel each other
out. Could it be that we are seeing a call swap between the LPTV
