DOES YOUR GPS STILL KNOW ITS POSITION?

Did your GPS receiver survive the system-wide calendar reset
(the "1024 week rollover") which occurred on Saturday August 21,
1999 at 5 pm PDST? It's estimated that 10%--and possibly more--
of GPS receivers could be susceptible to the rollover problem.
Most of these units were manufactured prior to 1994. We would
be interested in receiving short notes on any problems found.

For more information on the GPS rollover, see:

94.5 MHZ TEMECULA - NEW STATION TO HOPEFULLY BROADCAST SOON

  Applicants Kilmer Broadcasting, Artistic Airwave
Broadcasters (the Cilurzos) and Laura Wilkinson Herron have

  FM SCA SPACE AVAILABLE

A major Los Angeles station contacted me saying that they
are losing an SCA client and are looking for another one. Since
there is some confidentiality involved at this point, if you know
of somebody looking for a station (or a station that may want to
get rid of their SCA client because they have other plans, or
another opportunity), please contact me.

Lyle Henry, THE RADIO DOCTOR, RadioDoc@broadcast.net

(Lyle specializes in SCA matters for the L.A. area and has
done so for over 20 years. He generally knows who's looking for
SCA space and what stations have (or soon will have) spectrum
available. We appreciate his fine services. -Ed.)

GOOD WORD FOR EAGLE FM TRAPS

I bought one of the Eagle FM Traps (see CGC #342) several
years ago for some measurements I was doing on Mt. Wilson. It's
an excellent device. I keep it with my spectrum analyzer
accessories. It does a great job of reducing FM Band signals.

As I recall, when I bought it the company was in Fallbrook,
but was in the process of moving out of state.

Thought you might want to hear from a satisfied user.

  REMOTE CONTROL SYSTEM WANTED

Fullerton College (KBPK-FM) is looking for a remote control
system. I was going to buy a used Moseley TRC-15 out of The
Radio Shopper. Before I did, I thought someone in this area may
have one or something much better that they are trying to get rid
of. They would get a letter for tax credit from the college
district (big incentive). The equipment would have to be in
operational condition, and we need both ends.

FEW INTERNET USERS HAVE CABLE-BROADBAND ACCESS

"....Of the nearly 40 million Internet users, only one
million are cable broadband subscribers. There is no monopoly
or even duopoly in broadband. In fact, when it comes to this
very new market, there is a "no-opoly.""

TOP BAND OPENS AT HIGH NOON DURING ECLIPSE

For a few brief hours on Wednesday, August 11, the impossible
happened: 160 meters opened to summertime, daylight DX. What made
it possible was the total--or nearly total--eclipse of the sun.

The trajectory of the moon's shadow carried it across Central
Europe, Turkey, the Middle East, Pakistan and India. Scientists
had theorized that the absence of sunlight in the ionosphere could
affect D-layer propagation. NASA had called on hams and SWLs to
monitor shortwave signals from Europe before, during, and after
the eclipse and report their findings.....
