EXAMINATION OF THE EFFECTS OF MULTIPLE OWNERSHIP OF RADIO
  BROADCAST STATIONS IN LOCAL MARKETS

The FCC has proposed to examine the effects that radio

MIGRATION FROM SUNSET PEAK TO MT. HARVARD NEARING COMPLETION

The following photos by Frank Martin show the new KSCI and
KRCA-TV antennas on Mt. Harvard (the orange Dielectric antenna
is for both KRCA and KRCA-DT). Also shown is XM's "banished"
Til-Tek antenna:

With the migration of transmitters from Sunset to Harvard
almost complete, Frank writes, "Sunset Ridge is becoming more
of a TV ghost site.... KPXN, 30, will remain [on Sunset for
now], awaiting a construction permit [to move to Harvard]."

CHANNEL 61 LIGHTS UP ON HARVARD

KSCI-DT, CH-61, began operations from Mt. Harvard on Monday,
November 5, 2001, according to Scott Chestnut. The new station
runs 256 kW ERP maximum using a directional antenna. As you may
recall, KSCI, CH-18, was the first full power TV station to
broadcast from Harvard when their operations began on August 10,
2001. Congratulations once again to the KSCI crew!

KPBS-DT, CHANNEL 30, SAN DIEGO, TO BEGIN BROADCASTS NOV. 21

KPBS, San Diego, is scheduled to launch its digital television
station on Wednesday, Nov. 21 at 8 p.m.

"It is both symbolic and appropriate that we launch our digital
station 10 years to the day from when we participated with General
Instrument [now Motorola Broadband Communication Sector] to
originate the first digital broadcast in the world," says KPBS
General Manager Doug Myrland. "KPBS' move to digital programming
not only reinforces our commitment to serving the community, but
also shows that we have the desire and ability to remain on the
forefront of leading technologies in the industry."

KPBS-DT's first program will be a high definition presentation
of "Little Women" from the Houston Grand Opera.

  THE CGC COMMUNICATOR GETS RESULTS

Regarding a recent Job Shoppe ad placed in three publications
and seeking a radio engineer for our area, the employer writes,

"I believe about 1/3 of the 43 [responses] came from the CGC
Communicator. These were the most qualified [engineers] and
lived in the area. The person we hired.... saw [the ad] in the
CGC Communicator."

Thank you for the endorsement! The CGC Communicator reaches
over 800 subscribers including many of the most active and best
qualified broadcast engineers in southern California.
