FCC LIBRARY CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC

Effective December 5, 2001, and until further notice, the
FCC Library is closed to the public. This action is said to be
necessary "because the Commission is using a portion of the FCC
Library to house FCC employees temporarily."

100 YEAR COMMEMORATION, KPH & K6KPH TO BE ON THE AIR DECEMBER 12

Historic coast radio station KPH (and amateur radio station
K6KPH) will be on the air December 12 to help celebrate the 100th
anniversary of the first wireless signal to cross the Atlantic,
received by Guglielmo Marconi on December 12, 1901, at Saint
John's, Newfoundland. Both stations will use the original
transmitters, receivers and antennas of KPH, a former RCA coast
station. For specific times and frequencies, see:

WHERE THE XM GLUE FAILED - CLARIFICATION

Regarding the XM adhesive problem (CGC #488). The problem
wasn't the inside portion of the antenna coming unglued from the
window, the problem was the cover itself that held the inside
wiring of the antenna. The cover came off two times, but I took
"Quick Glue" to my installer, and have had no further problems.
I have informed XM about this great adhesive.

  A DETAILED INTERNET SPEED REPORT

This "Internet Weather Report" presents ongoing animated scans
of conditions within the Internet. It is like a daily newspaper
or television weather radar report, except instead of being about
real world meteorology, it is about conditions inside the Internet
itself. The Internet Weather Report is presented in geographical
maps that show "lag," which is round trip ping-time (latency),
from the service's office in Austin, Texas to thousands of
Internet domains worldwide.

  PARTING THOUGHT

To the optimist, the glass is half full. To the pessimist,
the glass is half empty. To the engineer, the glass is twice
as big as it needs to be.
