The House has extended the date when full power television
stations must stop broadcasting in analog. The "hard date" is
now June 12, 2009 pending president Obama's signature which
seems inevitable.
Of course, many stations may opt to switch before June 12,
and a number are expected to switch on February 17 as originally
planned. However, Senator Jay Rockefeller is urging stations to
"put consumers first." John Eggerton of Broadcasting & Cable
If you have firsthand information on when individual southern
California TV stations plan to drop their analog signals (we have
already published a report for San Diego), please let us know.
