  SWITCHING TIMES TO VARY TODAY
A CGC survey of a few television stations in the greater
Los Angeles area indicates that the analog switch off times and
DTV channel switch times will vary today. There are some
serious cracks in the 11:59 PM mantra.
As one Chief Engineer put it, "We were going to switch (to
our new DTV channel) at midnight but heard that (our competitor)
was switching early, so we decided to switch early because we
didn't want to miss the (consumer) rescan."
Don't forget, if you are switching to a new DTV channel
before midnight, it is your obligation to make sure the new
channel is clear. See the URL below.
The bottom line for over-the-air viewers in the greater
Los Angeles area is that Friday will be a somewhat confusing
day. Consumers would be well advised to rescan both Friday and
Saturday, and again sometime next week as a precautionary
measure.
